Ethical challenges for the modern soldier
Abstract
The author explores the ethical challenges faced by the servicemen engaged in modern military operations. The contemporary military engagements stirred up new ethical issues, appealing for resuming the Ethics debate within the Army. Three principles appear to guide the ethical attitude of the combat unit: 1) proportionality in the use of force; 2) respect of the dignity of others; 3) exemplary behavior of the soldier.
