Résumé

La pensée populaire maghrébine attribue le désordre mental à la manœuvre maléfique d’un esprit invisible ou à l’action malveillante d’un être humain. Les thérapeutiques traditionnelles sont essentiellement entreprises par les marabouts grâce à la médiation d’un saint, par les sorciers qui pratiquent la violence physique et psychique et enfin par les confréries religieuses d’origine animiste. Pour les psychothérapeutes, face à la souffrance psychique, l’apport anthropologique permet de donner du sens aux différents signifiants socio-culturels profondément ancrés dans le discours du sujet. Ainsi, l’outil psychodynamique doit permettre au sujet de progresser à travers d’authentiques liens et de faire de nouveaux choix de satisfaction, en dépit des douloureux vacillements existentiels entre une tradition indéfectible et une modernité attractive.

Abstract

Throughout the Maghreb, a mental disorder is, according to popular thinking, considered as the malefic operation of an invisible spirit or hostile action of a human being. Traditional therapeutics are mainly led either by marabous thanks to the mediation of a saint, or by wizards who practise physical and psychic violence, or by religious brotherhoods of animistic origin. The anthropological contribution allows the psychotherapists, facing psychic suffering, to have a better understanding of the socio-cultural ground deeply anchored in the subject’s speech. Therefore, the psychodynamic tool may allow the subject to progress through authentic links and to make new choices taking into account the painful existential oscillations between an indestructible tradition and an attractive modernity.
