Résumé

Partant du concept d’identité narrative et des aléas de son établissement, ce texte présente une démarche originale où l’histoire subjective est évoquée par l’intermédiaire d’un dispositif innovant utilisant le thème de l’arbre. L’arbre est une réalité botanique qui entretient avec l’humain une relation de proximité. Le langage exprime ce lien. Ainsi pied, tronc et tête désignent des parties homologues pour les deux entités. Mais l’arbre permet également d’organiser la complexité à la manière de l’arbre généalogique qui organise la succession des générations dans le temps. L’arbre facilite aussi l’accès aux différentes expériences du temps que sont le temps successif, cyclique et immobile. Enfin il autorise l’articulation des contradictions et l’expression des situations paradoxales. L’Épreuve des Trois Arbres est un dispositif qui associe réalisation de dessins d’arbres et de textes. En dessinant un arbre la personne projette des éléments de sa personnalité et en racontant l’histoire de l’arbre dessiné, elle raconte son histoire en décrivant son propre univers subjectif. L’identification à l’arbre permet d’élaborer par analogie un récit de soi dans le moment présent, base de la constitution de l’identité narrative. La présentation de trois vignettes illustre la démarche en mettant en évidence les temporalités propres à chacune et l’intérêt d’une démarche analogique pour établir une identité narrative véritablement axée sur les préoccupations centrales pour la personne au moment.

Abstract

Based on the concept of narrative identity and the hazards of its establishment, this text presents an original approach where subjective story is evoked through an innovative device using the theme of the tree. The tree is a botanical reality that maintains a relationship of proximity with human being. Language expresses this link. Thus root, trunk and head designate counterparts for both entities. But trees also make it possible to organize complexity in the manner of family trees that organize the succession of generations through time. Trees also facilitate access to the different experiences of time that are successive, cyclic and immobile time. Finally, it allows the articulation of contradictions and the expression of paradoxical situations. The Three Trees Challenge is a device which associates drawings of trees and texts. By drawing a tree the person projects elements of their personality and by telling the story of the drawn tree, tells story by describing their own subjective universe. The identification with trees makes it possible to elaborate by analogy a narrative of oneself in the present moment which is the base of the constitution of the narrative identity. The presentation of three vignettes illustrates the process by highlighting the temporalities of each of them and the interest of an analogical approach to establish a narrative identity truly focused on the central concerns for the person at the time.
