Résumé

Proposer un atelier de création dans une institution soignante est un acte ambigu. Il n’est parfois rien de plus qu’une fuite devant la réalité qu’on n’accepte pas. Cependant, la création n’est pas intéressante comme distraction, elle l’est parce qu’elle donne accès à cette « autre part » de nous-mêmes, et qu’elle peut nous permettre de la reconnaître et de l’intégrer. Comme la Cigale de la fable rejetée par la Fourmi avec mépris, cette part que nous rejetons est une incroyable réserve d’images et d’identité potentielles. Mais elle est aussi très protégée, difficile d’accès, dangereuse peut-être, et nous multiplions les ruses pour en différer la rencontre. Une pratique artistique accompagnée permet lentement d’approcher, puis d’organiser tout ce matériau symbolique et d’en assumer la singularité parfois très effrayante.

Abstract

Offering a Creative Arts workshop in a Health Care facility is an ambiguous act. Sometimes it is no more than an escape from an unbearable reality. However artistic creations are not interesting as a distracter but as an access to the other part of oneself “the Other Where”. Art Therapy allows us to acknowledge this part of the self lying otherwhere and incorporate it in own real self. Like the cicada the aunt haughtily rejected, this part we are putting away is an incredible source of images and identity potentialities. However, as this Other Where is barred from access and likely dangerous, we reiterate tricky manoeuvres to postpone such an encounter. Art practice supported by trained professionals allows for a gradual approach and exploring of the symbolic material offered by the Other Where, including ultimately mastering its most frightening components.
