Résumé

La parution d’un dossier de Perspectives Psy consacré à la psychiatrie en milieu pénitentiaire permet, en comparant son contenu avec celui du dossier consacré à la criminologie dans le 12e numéro de la même revue (octobre-novembre 1965), de mieux mesurer l’évolution considérable qui s’est produite en ce domaine depuis quarante ans. Les articles d’alors étaient signés des jeunes psychiatres, membres de l’équipe constituée par P.H. Hivert pour ouvrir au sein même de la prison de la Santé, avec l’aide de l’Office Public d’Hygiène Sociale, une consultation où le psychiatre n’intervenait plus en tant qu’expert médico-légal mais en tant que clinicien et thérapeute. Ayant participé à cette expérience, nous en rapporterons certaines des conclusions tirées à l’époque, et qui sont à l’origine des textes fondateurs des SMPR et notamment de la circulaire de septembre 1967.

Abstract

The publication of a “dossier” in Perspectives Psy devoted to psychiatry in penitentiary environment allows, by comparing its contents with that of the file devoted to criminology in the 12th number of the same journal (October-November 1965), to better measure the considerable evolution which has occurred in this field for forty years. The 1965 articles were signed by young psychiatrists, members of the team consisted by P.H. Hivert to open even in the “Prison de la Santé” Centre, with the assistance of the Public Office of Social Hygiene, a consultation where the psychiatrist did not cut in any more as a medico-legal expert but as a clinician and a therapeutist. Having taken part in this experiment, we will bring back of them some of the conclusions drawn at the time, and which are at the origin of the texts founders of the SMPR and in particular of the September 1967 circular.
